Perfecting a New Skill

Join me on my journey to perfecting a new skill!

While at this year’s Pole Convention, I unlocked a new move, the Pole Handspring. This is one of the hardest moves to achieve because a lot goes into even having the strength to attempt the move. I have been piecemealing the steps to get this move for some time, and at Pole Con, I was finally able to do it with a spotter. Now is the time for me to work on the move alone- and it will be a challenge.

The thing that I constantly have to remind myself of is that I need to be patient. Rome was not built in a day, and neither will this handspring. Honestly, the fact that I am able to go for this move as a curvier body is an accomplishment in and of itself. So I am going to keep pushing on this one until I finally get it. And when I do finally get it - watch out, because you will be able to hear me EVERYWHERE. LOL.

Cheers to DAY 1 of training the handspring.

Performing, Part 2.

Getting ready for my second live performance and this time around has been much calmer. I'm still nervous, but I have a confidence from knowing what to expect.

For this routine, I am taking it easy on my body and focusing more on "performing" rather than tricks because that's the area I want to improve upon this go around. I want to be able to serve FACE and energy. I have one tough floor pass and a scary AF trick that I have never done in a routine, so I pray I make it through.

Stay tuned for the recap... this will be an interesting one. Lol.

It's Performance Time!

Tomorrow, I'll be partaking in my second pole performance ever. I am a mixture of both excited and nervous, because you never know what to expect with any performance, much less a performance that involves an apparatus. Some of my biggest fears are my grip not holding up or me getting winded during my routine. I've actually taken some precautions when choreographing my routine so that I'm not doing anything that I can't fake it through in the event I run out of breath. I've been conditioning like crazy since the start of the year for such a time as this, so I'm hoping it all pays off. Ultimately, I just want to give a performance that I am proud of. Performing gives me such a rush and when I walk off that stage, I want to feel like I left a mark.

Did I mention that I had about 2 weeks to come up with a routine? Haha! Gotta love a challenge.

Here are some of the rough draft moments as I put my routine together.

What are some of your performance anxieties?

6 Inch Heelzzzzz....

So, I'm taking things to new heights! I just bought my first pair of dance heels and am super excited to use them in class. I got these on Amazon for 30 bucks, as an entry pair until I get a better feel for poling with heels.  They are "Fantasma's" by Pleasers and they are pretty comfy and not to hard to walk or pole in.

I love these red shoes!

I went to my first heels class, and after being a bit wobbly in the begging, I was able to finally get my bearings in these things. My favorite move with heels is the shoulder roll/fish flop. I feel so pretty!

Here's the vid of my first pole combo in heels:

If you haven't tried a heels class, you definitely should. It is sooo freeing!

Until next time. =)

xoxo.
